Get to know kathleen
Kathleen Johnsen grew up in Southern California. Her mother was a committed Christian and was diligent about taking Kathleen and her two sisters to church and introducing them to Jesus. She has a hard time pinpointing when she actually accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, although she was baptised when she was thirteen. One of her earliest memories is singing “Jesus Loves Me” and she still believes this with her whole heart.
Kathleen attended Westmont College and graduated in 1984. The relationships she formed there continue to be strong and her closest friends today are still those women from Westmont that she has continued to do life with over the years.
Professionally Kathleen has been leading the human resources efforts at companies for over thirty years. She is a member of her local chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). A few years ago, Kathleen left the corporate environment and started her own HR consulting company. She has helped organizations in a variety of industries to include hospitality, non-profit, and agriculture with their HR needs. Kathleen has assisted clients creating employee handbooks, compliance audits, compensation and reward systems, organization restructuring, employee relations, and investigations. With every issue, Kathleen seeks wisdom and strives to see each employee encounter with a Christ-like perspective.
Using her encouragement, wisdom, and administration gifts, Kathleen is an effective trainer, coach, facilitator and mediator for human resources issues and concerns. Her expertise is in training, compliance, communication/conflict resolution, and investigations. With her hospitality background, Kathleen approaches HR with a caring service focus.
Kathleen and her husband Eric currently make Monterey, California their home. She and her husband are active members of Shoreline Church. They have two adult sons and a black lab. She is enthusiastic about reading, cooking, hiking, coffee, and living near the ocean.
